ABOUT GREAT BEGINNINGS
Head of School's Welcome,
Welcome to our beautiful school. As an educator, a parent, an avid traveler and an outdoor enthusiast, I'm in love with our community.
Great Beginnings is a magical place, and you'll feel it when you walk in our doors and back outside into our outdoor classrooms. We have a shared commitment to strong academics supported by small class sizes and talented, dedicated faculty. For 33+ years, we've fostered student learning through a combination of Montessori and nature. And, across two campuses, through multiple classrooms, through our summer camps, and more, we are growing.
And, we aren't growing alone. We believe that collaborative nonprofits are powerful agents of community change. Some of the best work being done by nonprofits happens through collaboration in a culture of learning, reflection, and excellence. At Great Beginnings, we work collaboratively with dozens of local non-profits to strive for innovation and developing common solutions to community needs.
Our big goal is to create a PreK – 12 Community School for the Bozeman area. Our school has valuable experience inspiring local students to think critically, engage positively, and prepare for impactful, interesting lives. The creation of a collaborative Community School could provide an assembled academic environment to prepare our preschool through twelfth grade students for a world that is forever evolving.
We welcome your family, wherever you are in your educational journey.

Great Beginnings blends Montessori and nature-based learning methods into a modern education model. Our academic school provides a broad curriculum that includes the arts, sciences, mathematics, languages, humanities and physical education for toddlers - kindergarten.
Our students live in the communities throughout Bozeman, Gallatin County, the Bridger range, Belgrade and the Springhill community.
We are proud to offer tuition assistance to a third of our families, including Best Beginnings and ACE scholarships.
The school was formed by a group of parents in 1986 to provide an educational environment based on the philosophy and methods of Dr. Maria Montessori. The school shared space with Eagle Mount, a local non-profit that provides recreational opportunities for people with disabilities and young people with cancer.
In 2002, the school moved to the Springhill building with two early childhood classrooms serving ages 3-6. In 2017, we expanded to our Foothills campus, and 2019 announces the start of our elementary program.
