Summer Camp Instructor
Great Beginnings Montessori (GBMS) offers week-long summer camps for children ages 3-12 starting at 8am and running through 4pm, Monday -- Thursday.
We offer three camps:
Bumblebee Camp (ages 2-3);
Huckleberry Camp (preschool ages 3-6), and
Yurt Camp Camp with 1st - 5th grade (ages 6-11).
We are hiring one summer instructor. Summer Camp instructors have the opportunity to work for one specific camp/ age group with reduced enrollment/ Covid-19 best practices.
There will be closed "loops" with 11 children + 2 instructors, and there will be no/ limited interaction with any other groups. If re-opening phases are lifted for the state of Montana, there can be the opportunity to float between several camps.
Instructors for the Yurt Camp travel with the children (ages 1st - 5th grade) must be 21+ and have an excellent driving record. Instructors also have the option to commit to specific weeks of summer programming, and do not have to commit for the entire summer.
GBMS Summer Camps take advantage of Montana's beautiful weather while supporting our students' continuing academic and social development. With smaller, intimate groups, we're able to focus on building friendships, getting outside, supporting individuals, and offering plenty of fun! Each week focuses on fun activities blending environmental education, outdoor adventure, art, academics, and summertime fun.
Essential Job Functions:
--Deliver a fun program to campers;
--A positive and enthusiastic attitude, a plus;
--During the program, instructors participate in classroom, outdoor, and recreational activities;
--Instructors assist with weekly themes, field trips, and nature-based activities.
--Because of the Covid-related protocols, instructors will need to be flexible with duties including sanitizing, hygiene, and staying with one group of children for the entire day, and responding to their needs (which will vary).
Candidates will need to provide:

• Teachers, artists and outdoor educators are the strongest candidates. College graduates preferred, college and high school students ages 16+ considered.
• Experience working with PreK-5th grade children;
• Demonstrated leadership experience;
• Flexible, trustworthy, creative and positive; someone who works well in teams.
• Commitment to Montessori education - is energetic, organized, communicative, fun-loving, and a good problem-solver;
• Current certification required in First-Aid and CPR, lifeguard certification a plus;
• Excellent driving record.
Duration: Camp runs 4-days per week, Monday-Thursday. Work schedules are 7:45am - 4:15pm or 8am - 4pm. Day Camp starts June 15th and ends August 20th, 2020. Instructors expected to work Friday, August 21st.
Title: Substitute Teacher
Reports to: Assistant Head of School, Head of School
Overview: Great Beginnings Montessori School (GBMS), a nature-based Montessori School and summer camp in Bozeman for ages 2-12. GBMS has a 34-year-old history in the Valley and serves approximately 125 families in three locations. Our school uses the student-centered Montessori Method, an evidence-based approach to closing the opportunity gap and GBMS is an Associate School Member of the American Montessori Society.
As a local non-profit, our school is seeking substitute teachers to occasionally fill-in for teachers in all of our classrooms for all of our campuses. There is a 2-3 year-old classroom; several 3-6 year-old classrooms, an a kindergarten Yurt classrooml.

Essential Job Duties:
Our school’s community is fun and we like to get outside and get dirty. We think kids are hilarious and brilliant, and we are looking for flexible educators who love kids and loves nature.
You should also be:
Relaxed when speaking in front of groups of up to 16 students and good at inspiring children.
Establishing classroom rules and holding each student accountable, integrating a multi-age community where all students work together.
You should be able and willing to get to know their students differing personalities. Students notice genuine interest communicated by adults.
Candidate Skills and Background Education
Preference will be given in most situations to those applicants who hold teaching certificates and to those who have completed teacher preparation courses. A bachelor's degree is highly preferred. Other preferred requirements include proven effectiveness in working with school-age children in an instructional setting and dependability.

18+ years of age
This position is for the academic school year: August – June. Our school follows the Bozeman Public School academic calendar. School hours are 8am - 4pm.
Standard Work Day and Compensation:
GBMS strives to be competitive with the public schools for substitute teacher wages. A full day is normally defined as working 7 1/2 hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A full-day rate is $105/ per day. The hourly wage is $14/ hour.
